Aging and Pill Popping…Not So Taboo Anymore

So as a lot of my close friends know I’ve turned another leaf and aged one more year.  As I’ve gotten older and sort of settled into my body more I feel like I can really tell the difference in how I feel when I eat certain foods or have different energy levels.  As of 1 year 1 month ago I decided to take on a transformation of my entire lifestyle by eating more natural, working out regularly, and well becoming that lady with a pill box in her purse.  At first I felt a little awkward constantly keeping all my pills organized and taking them at the right times of day but 1 year 1 month later I can genuinely say it has made a tremendous difference in my energy levels, moodiness, and overall strength and well-being.  So maybe those Flinstones Vitamins I was eating when I was younger wasn’t such a bad precursor to my habits 20 some years later.  In one day I generally take Multivitamins, Fish Oil, Super B-Complex, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, Calcium Carbonate, and Magnesium Oxide plus all the nutrients from the foods I generally strive to eat.  What we generally see when we go to the doctor is he/she never saying “Oh hey you’re having some hip pain…maybe you should start taking Glucosamine.”  Why?  Because the goal of many isn’t prevention, it’s reaction.  We often get sick or feel weak and moody and then try to fix it.  Why not try and prevent these feelings and bring our bodies back to a normal balanced state before the onset of illness?  It’s annoying taking all these pills, there’s no doubt about it, plus if you’re taking other pills for health reasons or pregnancy prevention it’s additionally irritating.  But think of it like water.  Your body needs water to survive, for normal brain activity, body temperature, bowel movements and urination, tissue function and numerous other reasons.  It’s the same thing with making sure your body is nutrient rich to help you function and feel like a million bucks!
